Does K&N make a stock replacement air filter for the H2?

If so, do you have the part number? The dealers I checked with do not show an actual part number. Strange. Is Airaid the only solution?

KACYK, thanks for the quick reply.

I can't seem to locate the part on either of the websites. Any thoughts?

Have you thought of a AirRaid Junior Kit? Less noise than a FIPK.

Thanks again. Yes, I am actually leaning towards the Airaid Jr. kit at this time. Is it a quality brand/product???

They are a little more aggressive than K&N when designing CAI's offering a more limited selection, but generally equal or slightly better performance numbers. You'll be satisfied with AiRaid's products.

Have been using that on a stock 05 for awhile, the only other engine-related mod is the MagnaFlow exhaust. I decided to put back the stock filter & tube couple days ago just for kicks, and I did notice the difference, nothing drastic, but there's a difference.

As far as the company goes, I had excellent customer service. I ordered mine from AJ USA, and the MIT I received had some very deep cuts on it (from box cutters or something probably), Airaid ended up sending out a brand new one overnight with all the fittings, etc.

I'm ordering the Airaid Jr. kit for all these reasons as listed in this (and other) discussion thread. I hope it fits and performs well while maintaning a reasonble sound level similiar to stock (since it uses the stock air box). Again, thank you all.

When using an oiled air filter, after the initial install or servicing, run it for a week or so and hit some hi RPM's a couple of times and then clean your MAF elements. If an oil residue accumilates there it will have the MAF lie in a negative manner that effect mpg, shifting, idle and so on.
There is a GM TSB stating if the symptoms described above are found and traced to an after market oiled air filter, it is not to be covered under warranty.

Come on Focher! GM and Spicer sleep in the same bed. You don't think the tests are a wee bit biased??

I believe the K&N type filters give very little, if any performance increase.

I run a supercharger and the factory filter works fine. Save your money.

I run K&N filters more for the maintenance free service life and consistancy than anything else. And paper filters are catching up in price. You buy only 1 K&N too.
When paper gets wet and dries it's properties change.
All of this may not be a large degree in difference but I like the drop it in and forget it thing of the K&N.

Observations on a 5.3 Yukon with Airaid Junior and Airaid Throttle Body Spacer.

Last week I installed both units in the Yukon to be my "test" vehicle before doing anything on the H2. Prior to this I installed a K&N FIPK in my Tundra and found it to yield no noticeable increase in either MPG or performance.

1. Installed the Airaid Junior kit which consists of a new "high flow" MIT and Filter. Unlike the K&N FPIK, this retains the original air box so the sound is not obnoxious yet it does raise the decibels slightly at full throttle. I actually like the sound as it is reminiscent of a 1950’s muscle car. As for the power? I actually experienced a decline in power throughout the midrange. I can’t give any dyno figures but it feels more sluggish than with the OEM setup. Perhaps I expected too much? Not really as I had the same experience with the K&N FIPK. So why did I buy it? Well, I can return it for a full refund and there’s always that glimmer of hope that a different application might yield better results.

2. With the Airaid Junior in, I then installed the Airaid Throttle Body Spacer. Okay, now this made a DIFFERENCE! The throttle response was quicker, the sluggishness went away and highway passing is now a breeze, even with all seven of us in the truck! I’m not sure if all three mods work together of if just the throttle body spacer alone would yield the same results. But there is a definite difference. Any down side to the Airaid Throttle Body Spacer? Yes, an annoying high pitched screeching sound (same sound as faded brake pads on thin rotors) at 2000 RPM. This “screech” according to Airaid is “normal” on many applications. No amount of “perceived” power increase or quicker throttle response is worth the mind numbing sound. Since my Yukon cruises at 2000 rpm, I am returning everything! How unfortunate!

I installed my Airaid Jr. kit. Though not scientific, the vehicle does seem to pull a little harder with no real increase in noise from the air filter (which is what I wanted). I will see how MPG goes. Thanks again to all.

Status Update: Since I added the Airaid Jr. kit my computer is telling me that my MPG has improved from 9.8 to 10.4. This is really great news with the price of gasoline lately.
