Jason, I've been trying to come up with a way to do this too.
I've been toying w/the idea of more temporary solution. A "bean bag" type of cushion that would be heavy enough to stay put in stops/starts and turns, that could be positioned whereever you wanted on the doghouse. You could stick the laptop to it with velcro.
