Hummer of Thousand Oaks, as stated before, provides the 1st oil change for free. But I am thinking of changing it soon myself and putting synthetic in. Any avid synthetic users out there. When should I start using it, immediately or wait for the first oil change to allow proper break-in.? I only have about 600 miles so far. Also, who has the GM number for the Oil filter? </div></BLOCKQUOTE>

See if your dealer will change it to synthetic for you.

I think someone else on this H3 forum has already done it.....I could be wrong.

fyi - synthetic is standard in Mercedes and Porsche products:

Mercedes - oil change intervals of about 9000 miles based on oil monitoring system in my wife's last car (2001 C240)

Porsche - recommended oil change intervals of 15000 miles or 1 year, whatever comes first. Keep in mind that Boxsters and Carerras have 9+ quarts of oil capacity.

OH OH! 29,765 on the odometer and I've changed my own oil, and rotated the tires myself at 12,000 miles. If it is up to me, my H3 will never see the dealer or a Jiffy Lube service bay in its life. Running strong with no problems!
