Hi,
I'm a little concerned when my dealer checked up
the noise coming from the front of my H3.
In order to test out the noise, they would
press the gas pedal up to 3000 rpm while pressing on the brake pedal so the H3 won't
shoot forward. Is this bad for the engine/transmission?

LOL, not really. If you are stressing anything (notice I didnt say damage) it would be the breaks and torque converter.

People in hot rods do this all the time to flash the converter to get a better launch or doa burn out to heat the tires up.

at what RPM would you guess the brakes or torque converter would get damaged?

ASJ, listen you woulld have to mash the brakes all the way down and then floor it and I mean FLOOR IT! and let the TQ from the motor over power the brakes and roll forward for like 30 mins straight to do any "damage" and then and only then you would most likely be looking at replacing break pads and rotors.
