Does anybody use their spare tire in their tire rotation?
I changed my oil and rotated my tires myself. A couple weeks later I thought about how my tires would last longer if I included the spare in the rotation.
Another consideration is, if I don't include the spare, I will have one new tire when it is time to replace the other four. If at that time I decide to change the brand/size of tires, I will still have one new one that would be different.

I figured that instead of having four worn out tires and a brand new spare tire (which I might or might not be able to match when it comes time to replace my worn out tread) --- why not use the spare in the rotation cycle (every 6,000 miles or so?) and increase the distance I can travel before buying new tires by 25%...
I move both rear tires to the front, criss-crossing them. I move the front right to the rear right and put the spare on the left rear. The front left front then vbecomes my spare.

I had oil/lub services at 3K, 7K & 11K. Tire rotation done at 7K, Service tech said 11K too soon, will do tire again next time. Spare is not used and stays in my garage, not a bad idea, but too much trouble for minimum gain. I tend to leave it to the professionals, if accountant says pay Uncle Sam, I pay; if lawyer says plead insanity, I will sing and dance; for Hummer service, I just drop it off and pick it up, the Hummer pros will take care the details. I am not smart enough to handle the tires.

The manual says 6-8k miles for a rotation. It does not say anything about rotating in the spare.

Definitely use the spare. You'll get 25% more mileage of your tires.

I rotate mine every time I change the oil. They rotate them for no charge.

I was down to the dealer last week for a couple of warranty fixes and asked parts guy about buying 2 tires and rims and the price is now $150 per set.
After asking for tire price ($50 now)he said he has MANY take off sets in back and has to move them.
$50/ tire is so cheap it may not be worth rotating just drive it .

What is the general rule on tire rotation (regarding 35s) - at what mileage is this recommended?
Thanks
