Parents are Lazy and "Experts" are greedy
I just saw a couple of articles on MSN.com about sending babies to shrinks, and increasing numbers of children being medicated to "Correct" their behavior.
This sh1t is really starting to piss me off. WTF is wrong with our society? Parents are too fcuking lazy to raise their kids so their kids act out because they were never taught any better. Rather than disipline their kids they decide something must be wrong because they are not acting normal (not sh1t they aren't acting normal. You are too fcuking lazy to teach them what "normal" is). "Experts" see the increase in acting out and see a new cash cow and start giving BS diagnoises (sp?) to make money and keep parents happy and kids "level".
When I was younger I had ADHD tendencies. When it got in the way of school work, my teachers mentioned it to my parents and they whoopped my ass for acting out in school. Low and hehold the ADHD behaviors went away (at least enough for me to stop getting into trouble at school).
Why is it that parents are too incompetent to see that if they just disiplined their kids every once in a while they might not be little dipsh1ts that need medication? Can we require that parents pass a test before we allow them to have children? How about each time a child has to take a pill or see a shrink each parent gets a punch to the face?
People who jack up someone else's life because they are too lazy to deal with the real problem piss me off to no end. That is all.

HAAAAAALLLLLLLLEEEEEEEELLLLLLUUUUYAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!! !!!!!!!!
Wow i couldn't agree with you more. The whole discipline thing is rediculous. Need I say the phrase, "Stop or you'll get a time out." Hmm, can you say easy out. GOD THAT PISSES ME OFF!! Now I get to misbehave and then think about how sweet it was for 10 minutes. Much more affective than a spanking.

Re: Parents are Lazy and "Experts" are greedy
Well let me first say, Kids will be kids. They are going to act up. It's natural, they can only stay still for so long. If you take them to a nice restaurant you should be prepared for them to act up at least a little. Bring something with you ie. books, a small game or something. We bring a small DVD with us. They should be taught how to act in different situations, nice restaurant vs. a play ground. But nothing makes me more mad that to be out to eat and some child is screaming and showing their butt and the parents don't remove them from the area, taking them to the bathroom or outside. Just remove them from the situation, I know in Moab last Oct my kids were not acting great so I tried everything I could do, still did not help so we paid and went back to the hotel. You don't want to ruin everyones time. I also like the fact that my 5 year old tests the limits sometimes. I like that she is somewhat hard headed. She has her own ideas. I always tell people she is 5% devil and 95% angel. That 5% makes me really mad somedays but thats okay. I will also spank my kids if they need it, that is BS someone telling me I can't spank my child. I don't have to do it often but it's there if I need it. I can normally just start to count and my 5 year old will straighten up really fast. But she is a "rules" girl. She loves the structure.
Shaggy, in 10 years I want to discuss this with you again when you have kids and just see how your ideas change. I hope you do raise your kids like you think you will. But one thing I have learned since having kids is NEVER SAY NEVER. "My kids will never do that......." it will turn around and bite you in the a$$.

Re: Parents are Lazy and "Experts" are greedy
Shaggy, you'll understand when you have kids. It is smarter to pay to get your kids fixed then to spend time on them, unless you don't value your time at all. When you work 6hrs a day, 3 days a week the last thing you will want to do in your free time is be with your children, let alone fix them yourself. Which reminds me, I have to try to find that nanny I hired to see if she has enough money for food, bleh, the joys of parenthood...

Re: Parents are Lazy and "Experts" are greedy
Wow... I have never had this many people agree with me on something before. I am getting all misty eye'd.
Never plan on saying my kid (hypothetical) will "Never" do something, but I tell you this. If they do something bad, or against what I have told them...they will get smacked. My dad only had to smack me about 3 or 4 times ever. After that he just had to threaten with it every once in a while and I behaved myself.

Oh I never got spanked...I got smacked. Dad knocked me out cold once when I was about 10 or 11. I was out way past curfew and we didn't live in a nice area so I probably deserved it. Some how I magically found a way to be home 5 minutes early every night after that.
