Aftermarket WEBASTO Sunroof
Hi guys/gals,
New to the forum and had to start with a rant.
I love my H3 to death just like the rest of us. It would be PERFECT if it wasn't for this $2000 aftermarket sunroof they stuck me with.
The H3 I wanted didn't have one already in it, I LOVED how huge the factory sun roof was. The dealer charged me a little extra to have this WEbasto roof put in and ASSURED me it would be only within centimeters of a size difference.
I got it a week later upset to see it was drastically smaller. Within 2 weeks I got the rattles. If the roof is open 50% - 100% the glass vibrates like all hell against the roof. At speeds of over 55 MPH the sunroof is creeking and rattling. If the music is on its tolelrable but in dead silence you will want to kill someone.
Soooo here's where Im at and heres my question.
How impossible would it be to get a FACTORY sunroof installed and this expensive piece of crap removed??? The dealership kept calling wanting to make sure I was "100% Satisfied with my GM purchase" When I said I loved everything about them but this, all I got was apologies. They seriously called every other day to ensure my satisfaction but didn't offer any solution to my small over priced rattling sun roof.
If I complain to the dealership what do you guys think they will do for me??? I was so upset by this I didn't even turn in that GM purchase survey they send you. I just want this thing gone, they also tore my overhead lining to crap trying to install it
Any feedback would be GREAT
Oh yeah, this is Silicon Valley Hummer of Los Gatos in the bay area, California.

Re: Aftermarket WEBASTO Sunroof
Who should I talk to? I don't necessarily want to talk to my dealer because he is the guy that assured me it would be the same size.
I'm hoping its physically possible to have the stock sunroof installed instead.
Who do you guys think I should talk to?

Yikes -- I'm not sure who you would talk to -- but I'm pretty certain there isn't a way to get the factory installed sunroof AFTER the fact...

Re: Aftermarket WEBASTO Sunroof
They tried to sell me on that sunroof when I got mine. I wasn't about to pay twice the cost of the factory option for a worse fit/finish and apparently sh*tty operation. Sorry to hear about your troubles but glad I passed.
As for what to do, TALK TO THE DEALERSHIP!!! Make them fix it, replace it, compensate you, whatever it takes. Don't let it rest until you are satisfied. And by all means, fill out the survey. They live and die by those things. Maybe it will even stop them from using this product in the future.

Start with your salesman and work your way up the ladder until somebody steps up and makes things right.

Having dealt with SVH for the last year, skip the salesman. They're all idiots there and won't be able to do squat. And don't bother talking to the "customer care" folks either unless its the manager. I can't remember her name right now but I can find out if you want.

Thanks Sewie,
If you can get me ANY name I would appreciate it. I just hate having to jump through hoops to get some help from them. You would think that after all the money we spent we would get world class customer service and not just a gold lined apology.

Re: Aftermarket WEBASTO Sunroof
I've read that aftermarket sunroofs often have issues that require followup service. If you persist, they should be able to make it work right.
Next time stick to factory sunroofs, they are worth every penny. I've had only factory roofs in Jeeps, Fords, Honda's, Toyota's, Hummers, Benzs, Jags with good results.

Re: Aftermarket WEBASTO Sunroof
That sounds like a real pain in the a$$. Medved kept trying to push an aftermarket sunroof on me when I was looking at their 06's, and after reading this thread, I'm really glad I insisted on a factory one. Keep hounding them to fix it and tell them you haven't sent in the survey yet. Good luck!

Re: Aftermarket WEBASTO Sunroof
I don't think IMO that they will install a factory because,1. Too expensive(no accessorie kit avillable from GM) 2. They will be out of the price of the after market plus the labor on both. Give them a time limit to correct it.
Let us know what they have done,This will be intresting to see how they handle a problem like this.
Good Luck.
