new to hummer!
Hey guys,
Brand new to Hummer and this site! I will be picking up my 06 black lux SUT with Navi on Saturday! I'm a newbie to Hummer and I'm pretty excited to be part of the family! I have a few questions for you vets and "experts" on this forum:
1) Do you recommend buying the super chips programmer for more HP and better fuel economy?
2) rust, it seems most of the people living in the salt belt have issues with rust forming underneath the rig. Have any of you bought into the dealer spray for the undercarriage?
I'll try to post pics this weekend!

No and No. Buy the programmer but not really for any true noticeable increase in either HP or mileage. It will make it shift firmer, and you can adjust the shifts, etc.
If you want to get an undercoating done, get something aftermarket, like Ziebart or the like.

Re: new to hummer!
Some quality primer and flat black spray paint from Home Depot does just fine to touch up rusting underneath. It's just surface rust and only needs a cosmetic fix.

Re: new to hummer!
Congrats on the new HUMMER, You'll LOVE IT!!!
I was an idiot and had the dealer do undercoating. After getting my rust issues, they said IT WAS NORMAL
A can of Tremclad is all I use. Works wonders

Re: new to hummer!
I'm from Schaumburg, IL. I bought my rig from Woodfield Hummer and my sales guy Alex Castro really was a nice guy to deal with! He threw in a black grill absolutely free to sweeten the deal. What other rides do you guys own? I currently own an 07 Infiniti M35 Sport with tech package, aero kit, and an 05 Scion XB.
Again, I'll take pics of all my rides this weekend..

Re: new to hummer!
Don't get the rust coating or the chip. I have an '03 H2 from Naperville Hummer. Been offroading and lots of winter driving through slush and salt with no rust problems. just don't look underneath it if it is going to bother you.

It's a moot point for you, Phil. You'll smash through your parts before they ever rust through.

Anthony33, nice lookin rides! You live by UIC? I graduated from there and my wife works at Rush Presbyterian. Do you know if Hummer owners from Chicago or IL get together and go offroading?
