Car audio installation journal
I have made a little more progress, with the help of several members here in the forums that have given me advice.* I'm learning as I go, so a lot of the woodworking leaves a little bit to be desired in terms of appearance, but it is airtight and extremely strong, so hopefully I can hide most of the imperfections when everything is carpeted.
Just wanted to post a quick picture update.* Yes, I know the amp is upside-down in this picture.* The cables were too much of a pain at this point, and I couldn't find my hex keys to remove them.* There is a bit of a reflection on the ceiling of the vehicle.

I have had this equipment sitting in storage for two years after pulling it from my Avalanche and Excursion.* I felt it was time to finally install it in the H2.
I actually have quite a few things that need to be installed.* I was originally going to build an enclosure under the second row seat for a subwoofer and amplifer, but thought that defeated the purpose, since I already have the Soundstream Davinci amplifer and the 15" Soundstream Tarantula subwoofer.* I took more measurements, and found that I could fit the subwoofer behind the spare tire and the amplifier across from it.
Now, instead of building an enclosure beneath the second row seat, I am going to use it as a platform to mount power distribution, capacitors, siren/horn controller, AutoPC, power inverter, AV controller, TV tuner, PlayStation 2, and LCD controllers.* It is definitely a work in progress.* The biggest obstacle is that I do not want to eliminate any more functionality or room in the vehicle than absolutely required.
What I save in money by doing it myself and by using existing equipment I hope to be able to put towards things like mud tires and other offroad equipment.

Related to this project, does anyone know where I could go to have gold repair made on my amplifier?* There is a small nick on the front and I would like to have it filled, smoothed, and re-plated, if possible just in that area.* I spoke to local jewellers, and they wouldn't touch it.* That is the extent of where I would guess I could take it to.* Any suggestions?

Hey Dennis,
Look up Metal Plating Services in Edmonton, I think there are a few companies out there that can help you out, here in Calgary we have three of them that do a really good job. You will need to see if they can do a gap fill for you or a couple of layers of electro static plating. Your only other option is to go to a Goldsmith who works on custom jewellery, these guy's typically work for themsleves and not for jewellery companies. Good luck!
Cheers!
