New A Pillar Trims Don't Match ????
Got my A pillar trims around the windsheild changed out by the dealer last week. They wouldn't replace the roof rail sections because they weren't cracked. I was washing my H3 yesterday and I'm almost positive that the new trim parts are lighter in color that the rest of the old trim. Stands out like a sore thumb in direct sunlight.
Anybody else notice this or am I seeing things?
I guess the originals could have looked like that since I never really looked at them before.

Re: New A Pillar Trims Don't Match ????
I had my two A pillar moldings swapped out last week, too. The A pillars are the 'new batch' and, in my opinion, are smoother looking than the old ones, if that makes any sense. The originals seemed to have a very slight texture look to them. Anyways, I think the A pillar moldings look a little darker than the roof rails because they have a smoother look. Also, don't forget, your old ones were probably peeling, like mine. The whole look and color changed after awhile. Mine looked awful!!! I had my driver side roof rail replaced (they replaced it with the OLD stock). So I have one newer 'old one' and 'original' old one. LOL. Anyways, I think the sun made the color look different to you. We all (regardless of H3 color) have the black A pillar moldings. Hope this helped, unless I confused you even more!!

Re: New A Pillar Trims Don't Match ????
Thanks for the reply. Actually, I think you are right. Had a look at lunch and they do seem smoother than the other roof trim parts. I'm starting to think that it is the difference in texture that makes them look a different color under certain light, maybe because they reflect the light a bit differently or something.
I had to run over to the dealer because I now have a problem with my stereo and the guy I was working with said they will change color after they've been in the sun a while (which makes sense). He pointed out a red H3 that they happened to have waiting to be collected that had just had the a pillar trims replaced also and they looked different in color in the sunshine as well. Glad to know it's not just me.
I'm guessing the dealer won't go for replacing all the rest of the trim parts to match!

Try it. Tell them how dissatisfied you are and threaten them with a bad survey.

Why are the A pillar trim pieces being replaced?
The one on my drivers side just started "buzzing" from the wind at freeway speeds?

Mine were replaced because of poor fitment.
There was a big gap on the passenger side.

I wouldn't bet on it, Ken. I half jokingly said that at my dealer and the reply was, "Well, you have to do what you have to do." Great, huh? LOL.

The buzzing is from the molding ABOVE the windshield .. usually at the drivers side. I was told by the dealer that a bulletin came out on that one and they are now on order for replacement. Mine makes that buzz(more like shattering glass) at 65+ mph on the freeway. Most A pillar moldings are being replaced because of peeling. A bulletin had come out on that one, too. Mine began to peel (as well as for some of the other members here) ... like a snake molting its skin.

They won't fit flush up against the other rail or A pillar molding. I've checked out so many H3's on dealer's lots to see that they ALL have somewhat of a gap. One tech told me there needs to be a small (very small) gap for replacement and movement. (?) Also, if the roof rails touched right up against the A pillar molding, you wouldn't be able to see if there was a crack!

What are the dates of Manufacture for these problems.
ie, MM/YY
Problems that arise in the vehicles will give better timelines if the problem is followed by the MM/YY of manufacture.
for example, 09/05 or 01/06, etc.

Lex_Ordo, sorry, I didn't check back on this posting til now. I picked up my 2006 H3 on 8/05, so it's an early build. The exact build date is rubbed off on the inside door sticker. But from what I've read here and had heard from the Service Mgr, there was a bulletin put out about some 3's having their A pillar molding peeling. You'll know it when you see it. Hopefully they had put the new moldings on the later builds and '07's. The new one has a very smooth texture look. Hope this helped.
