Re: My newest GOBI add on
Very nice set up. How long does it take to set up the tent?

Re: My newest GOBI add on
It's very easy
It takes around 10 - 15 min, but as the setup is right now, I can't do it alone.
When I'm on the roof unpacking the tent, I need another person standing in front off the car, to grab the ladder, otherwise it will smack right into the hood
I'm working on a solution for this, but the tent is perfect.
I jest have to get used to people sneaking up on me to take picters off the Hummer when I'm up there sleeping

Won't get as wet if it's pouring out, less bugs, snakes, etc... And I think you can just leave your bedding out when you fold it back up...is that right? Of course, can't pee out the door anymore, unless you like peeing on your hood...

And if camping with me, my dogs can't pee on your tent.

Re: My newest GOBI add on
exatly as dochummer says.
They claim that you can leave your bedding up there when you fold it together.
I havn't tried that, I normaly put it inside the car.
But it really is great. And is you are camping on rocky grounds you don't have the problem with putting the pegs in the ground
But try to keep your hands off the wife, otherwise everybody within a mile will see the car rocking

Re: My newest GOBI add on
Thats a pretty wild setup. What you need for the late night bathroom trips is a funnel and 8' of hose. Make your own urinal

Re: My newest GOBI add on
You'll notice that a lot of Europeans use the roof tent setup for their expeditions....

Re: My newest GOBI add on
mikejr -
There is a solid 12 mm plywood floor in the tent, on top off this there is a 70 mm mattress.
There are openings in all 4 sides and mosquito nets in all the openings.
There are a better description on this side
www.hannibal.co.za
Dochummer -
Not only do the Europeans use the roof tent for there expeditions,, but the safari here is just perfect
There are no animals trying to eat you for lunch
Seriously you don't see them very much in Europe, I don't know hoe this is in the US, but I can tell you that there are great.
My wife don't like camping and see don't like sleeping in tent's until we got the roof tent, now I never have any problems convincing her that we can just sleep in the car.
I east Europe you just have to be careful where you park at night, but it's not a big deal anywhere in Denmark.

Re: My newest GOBI add on
somehow i'd never get my wife to stay in that although it looks really cool.
She likes the hotel action alot better than a tent. Sort of reminds me of the tent package they sell for the avalanches.
