Pelosi calls for energy independence
That tart just called for us to be energy independent within 10 years. Great! Let's start drilling in ANWAR and more off the gulf coast nearer to Cuba. Oh wait, they haven't let us do that before.
She's also talking about hybrids.

Re: Pelosi calls for energy independence
Isn't it Brazil that is now not dependent on the oil rich countries? They have gone completly to ethanol fuel.
So basically as all of the other countries have been bitching over fuel cost they have rebuilt and implemented the new fuel source.
Saving energy and fuel is one thing, telling me I shouldn't drive my Hummer is just out of line. I know she hasn't said that, Just leting her know in advance.
If our Gov't wants to conserve energy and fuel, they need to look at themselves first, Just look around the bases and Gov't buildings.

Re: Pelosi calls for energy independence
and this is part of her 100 hour anal exam.......
_Slap a "conservation fee" on oil and gas taken from deep waters of the Gulf of Mexico; scrap nearly $6 billion worth of oil industry tax breaks enacted by Congress in recent years; and seek to recoup royalties lost to the government because of an Interior Department error in leases issued in the late 1990s. Passed Thursday.
guess who gets to pay the 6 billion worth of that.....we do

Great Idea but I don't see the enviro natzi's let her or anyone explore for more oil. I sold 5 H2's to a guy who is wildcating out here. In the U.S. we are sitting on oil and gas that makes Saudi holdings small beens. They just won't tap it. The Goverment is behind it too.

I think I saw that on a documentary.
Their cars are all modified flex-fuel cars (Direct from factory. Like GM & Toyota) and fuel there is $0.13 litre? I think from sugar cane waste. They're starting to export the stuff now. Quite a success story on a massive scale. No imported fuel.
Energy independence would make USA more powerful globally than it is now.
It would free them to go after the real terrorists. Saudi Arabia.

Even better IMO, it would make the entire Middle East irrelevant. Then they could lose their illusions of grandeur and go back to their camels, caves and mud huts. They only really offer one export, without that they are just like Africa - minus the wildlife.
How well do those vehicles in Brazil perform? Can they get close to the HP generated by petroleum products?

HAHA!!!
The vehicles like I said were specially developed direct from the manufacturer like GM and most Japanese mfgs.
GM is already planning or has introduced Flex-fuel vehicles on most models like Sierras and Tahoes in the US. Apperantly, no noticable change in performance.

Re: Pelosi calls for energy independence
Flex fuel vehicles have a few items that make them suitable for ethanol based fuels: adjusted range injector feedback & monitoring, alcohol resistant gasketing and lines, and electrically isolated fuel systems.
Ethanol is conductive where regular gasoline and diesel aren't. While ethanol is a viable alternative, performance does suffer considering the BTU output so your mileage is greatly decreased. The yield is usually 75% of gasoline so while ethanol is usually cheaper, the saving is offset.
Brazil is a large producer of ethanol however they are also a big oil producer. There are several massive offshore platform projects under construction for Petrobras that will increase their output by 10% each as they come online.
I was involved with two of these platforms, so knowing their capacity I decided to buy a Hummer

I wonder if all these hybrid pushers realize that we're all ready short on electrical power. Do they ever count distibution system losses on the grid before it gets to the local utilities and eventual chargers. I think they don't look beyond the plug to recharge it. Heaven help us from dogooders , treehuggers and politicians and GOD HELP US if its all in one . The Rebel.
