Default The Big Mystery...GM Or The Dealers Don't Know

Aaaahhh Yes... Call me pettie... But I'm trying to get to the bottom of this big Mystery. At least it's a mystery to me.

We beat the S_ _ T out of this one in another post. And still no answer. Us two Licence Plate State guys are supposed to be able to get the VK3 option listed on the H3's option list. It's a freaken plastic holder that bolts to the front bumper that secures your plate with 4 bolts.

Try and find one. Called my dealer today( One State Plate Dealer where I bought it)...goes into his puter and comes up with na-da. He calls GM ..(Someody) and get this part # 15831722 for an 07 HUMMER H3. Goes to his Puter....Na-Da.. Not listed.

Says it's a production line item for two plate state dealers...not in general parts stock. So..he puts a special order in for one. Say's Call me in a Month if you don't hear from me.

I call a dealer in my two plate state .. he says..all my H3's don't have that option...plate just bolts into the bumper.

From what I understand..VK3 option is a standard for all GM Trucks that go to 2 palte state. So..I call HUMMER Assistance... There confused... They don't have any info either so they call my dealer. My dealer tells them the same think I told them.

So..They gave me a case number... This is like a big Mystery...Cool

All the ones I've seen in CA just have two plastic nuts that pop into the holes in the bumper. Plate bolts into those. No brackets.

BTW, in CA, by law the dealer must give you some way of mounting the front plate. Not sure how that works where you are.

Same here Sewie-Mi-ster.... But I bought my rig in the next state over.. Delaware..only a one State Plate. Called a New Joisey (2 Plate State Dealer).. and his rigs don't have the VK3 unit either. All of his rigs just have plain old bolts on the bumper. When I asked him about VK3 option he said daaaaaaaaaa.. the what..?? That's when I hung up.

That's What's F_ _ Ked up.. . No freaken body knows.

So..we'll see what HUMMER Cust Assistance says.

I went to Walmart to get my fix, so I could put a plate up front.

Funny you bring this up. I am in a one plate state but bought a tag for the front of my rig today. Went to put it on and scratched my head... hmmm? I thought maybe there was a bracket in the back compartment or something ( I've only had my H3 for two weeks) but no luck. Guess I won't have to waste my time calling the dealer now. Thanks... I think.

Advance Auto has plastic bolts that fit the factory holes and you can purchase frames anywhere. I plugged mine with them as PA does not require the front tag.

Why do you want a front plate?

OH ! never mind, it must be for a logo or something...

Have my state mouted plate on the front with two boolts already. Even if you mount a braket around the plate and bolt it up with 2 bolts ....it still flops around.

When I ordered my H3 last year, I could have sworn that it had that code on the order form option list.
My dealer has on all of his stock, and my truck was delivered with, the two white plastic mollies that plug into the square factory manufactured holes in the front and rear bumpers.
I think that's what the code refers to.
those two extra mollies.
I think that One plate state vehicle owners just have the square holes w/out any mollies in them.
