Based on GM sales recently, I'd say they're not in marketing either. Across the board, GM has the worst marketing in the auto business from my perspective as a consumer. They haven't had a fresh idea in 30 years. I think the H3 has essentially sold itself thus far with very little help from GM or Hummer ads.
I agree with A-C; the H3 ads are poor, portray it as a wannabe Hummer product, and ignore its core capability and performance. I've yet to see an H3 commercial showing it going where I couldn't drive a 1963 Buick. Why bother designing a great 4x4 then marketing it as a minivan.

Unfortunately, the vast majority of buyers (forum members excluded obviously ) will use it like a minivan. How many users (see disclaimer above) do you think are going to use the H3 to its full potential?
The knock on the H2's for a lot of people are its size and price. So why not market the H3 as a smaller and more affordable alternative?

I agree, and it appears to be working. Personally, I have not seen a good car or truck commercial in years, so what GM is offering with the H3 is, in my opinion, no better or worse than other manufacturers.
Then again, I'm not your normal consumer. I research everything, and discount all advertising as BS, and that includes everything from my Plasma TV to the Hummer. Yes, since I work for GM I will, in all likelihood purchase a GM vehicle, but I didn't always work for GM, and prior to GM, I purchased vehicles based upon what I researched, not what some marketing wiener thought I would like.

I am the type of "conquest" buyer that GM dreams of but rarely sees in their non-Hummer showrooms. I traded in a Toyota to buy my H3.
