Re: Pics of India's Power and Telco
some of my clients outsource things over there....its awful! They read from scripts when they call you, get them off the script and they dont know jack about what they are talking about....you cannot understand a word they say....but somehow our country thinks its a good thing to outsource to them...drives me nuts. My staff will say...just another freaking fuzzy foreigner calling when they pass the call to me...

Currently tier 1 support for AT&T dsl is in India but one of the things we negotiated for in our last contract was to bring those jobs back to the US when their contracts expired which I think is some time this year

And don't forget our best customer service agents get transferred there also.
I saw a docu on that, they often try to hook up to the service themselves and get electrocuted all the time. Crazy stuff.
BParkistan, are you there for a -istana durka meeting?

Re: Pics of India's Power and Telco
I love the wiring rat's nest! I work in IT and I see so much outsourcing to overseas going on. I also see a lot of foreigners coming over here to take jobs that should belong to Americans (I don't care what race or nationality, as long as you are a citizen). Corporations are mostly doing this to cut costs, but there is also a shortage of qualified people in the tech arena. Seems that fewer and fewer American kids have the math and science skills needed for this field. They think because they play video games and chat online all day that qualifies them for a career in the IT field. American kids are not willing to take the hard subjects in school, yet they expect to be paid top wages. People come here from India or Asia, with little hands-on experience but loads of education and IT certifications, and they get the good jobs. I fear that America is going to loose our technological edge in the next 20 years or so.

It's almost like a new age sculpture throughout the city. When I was single, the back of my TV looked similar.
I have to agree with the Trekker on our upcoming generations. The US has always ben behind someone in that regard, but we keep falling behind.

Re: Pics of India's Power and Telco
i just wish they could speak our language better, when they call my office, not one of my staff nor I can understand them. They get ticked that we cant, but hey screw them. If you are going to take on the work and have to interface with our country then they should be able to speak our language well enough so WE can understand it....ok...i've stepped down from my soapbox.

Re: Pics of India's Power and Telco
I impersonate them on speaker phone when they call. Or give them a super thick chinese accent. Makes the whole office bust out.

Who in their right minds would service those lines if a repair was needed?
