Passenger AirBag indicator question

I notice that when I have an adult passenger in the front, sometimes the airbag indicator is on and sometimes it is off. Sometimes it is off for a while and then turns on 15 mins later.

Anyone experience this unpredictability? is it an airbag problem or a problem with the indicator?
