Here are the prices:
Base model 320 HP $34,000 22 mpg
500 HP $40,000 - $43,000
Not worth it IMO

The intitial cost is high, however for what you get its well worth it. If you can, I would highly suggest going down there and have them take you for a spin in one of there D max h1's. I was there recently and got a ride in there black 4 door soft top, its running around 700 horses and 1200 foot pounds of tourqe. I kid you not, he was spinning the tires up hill on asphalt at around 55mph. Its worth every penny. And not to mention the allison is switchable between 2 and 4 wd meaning you will get around 18-20 mpg...They were also fitting a white h2 with the d max/ allison, I didn't ride in it, but he did start it, very quite and they said it would have nearly the same specs as the h1. Either way, 18-20 mpg. that would be awesome!

I looked at that, even though I believe it is well worth the money, don't do it just for the mileage, you would have to drive it about 270000 miles to break even on the fuel cost.
However if you are simply a motorhead and adrenaline rush from the performance, then by all means it is an awesome way to go and the fuel mileage is a nice side effect.

Spend between $34,000 and $43,000 in order to get 18-20 MPG? No Thanks, you can get that kind of HP with a $6,000. Super Charger.

Ya, its only justifiable (sp) if you do serious off roading and have money to burn...even then, I'm not sure I could bring myself to do it.

if the price were $20k less and they guaranteed it to match my factory and extended warranty, I would consider it. In general, most car companies that offer diesels, its $3k more, this is also a tranny upgrade, kick in another $1k, now put in HP gains, worth another $5k for the basic, thus the first upgrade shouldn't be more than $12k with them getting ur old tranny and engine back, where do they get their pricing model??? guys, we need some more competition out there on this, to get it to some real numbers, $34k and up is outrageous!

What is the latest regarding GM's offer of a Diesel H2? I will pony up for year 2 of that production model...

The problem with a D-max in a H2 is cooling and weight. The D-max needs a much larger radiator than a 6.0 gas engine that won't fit under the current body, that's why it's not available in a H2 already (suburban also). The D-max also adds too much weight in front for the IFSs load rating.

Def agree. They can easily resell the engine and trans from the swap for like 6k to a rodder or something. bastards.
