While looking over my 2005 H2 Owner's Manuel given to me in advance, I came across what I believe to be a contradiction in the instructions:
Page 2-32 States:
"Shifting between Four-Wheel High and Four Wheel High Lock "
"With the Vehicle traveling less than 40mph, press and release the four-wheel high or four-wheel low lock button.....the ...light....will remain on when the shift is complete."
However, the very next page states:
"Shifting into Four-Wheel Low Lock"
"...the ignition must be in Run and the vehicle must be stopped or moving less than 3mph, with the Transmission in NEUTRAL...."
To shift from four-low to four-high, the same instructions are then repeated. And a warning is given that if you don't follow it this way, your warranty is nada.
I have read and re-read the instructions, and it seems like a contradiction.....
What say you, experienced H2 off roaders?

Honestly, I would think GM would put a safty measure in there to keep some spaz from doing this.
Anyway, I think they are just talking about the light in the switch...
I would think that 99% of the population would know to stop, and hit neutral before going low.

You can switch from standard 4wd to a locked 50/50 front/rear split 4wd on the fly though.

IF that is what your manual states then it is a typographical error. You can shift between 4HI and 4HI LOCK while traveling at 40 MPH or less. However, when switching in or out of 4LOW LOCK you should be in neutral and stopped or rolling less than 2MPH.
If you try to switch into 4LOW LOCK without being in neutral the light should blink but then return to 4HI indicating that you cannot switch without being in neutral.
The warning given is that while you are switching into or out or 4LOW LOCK while in neutral you should not put the transmission in gear until the switch is complete or damage may occur.
