When I accelerate from a stop or accelarate to pass, there is a fairly noticable loudness, rumble, and roughness from the engine. Once I ease back on the pedal to a constant speed it dissapears. After owning an Envoy, I didn't know if this was normal for an H3 as part of it's personality and ruggedness or not.
Can anyone lend any insight.
Thanks

I had that same issue. The dealer said they had to tighten several body mounts and the motor mounts. Mine went away. It only did it on a hard acceleration right? Sounded like something was loose in the engine compartment.

No, but I know what you mean. It's actually more like an overstressed sound from the engine itself. Kind of like the sound when you accidently downshift but it's not overly drastic, just concerning.

Just do not down to the floor the pedal entirely. That should help. I know for me it did.
Since the H3 does not have a real "kick-down-click" feature, just pushing it to accelerate the "normal" pressure will get you quite far in an acceptable way.
The car is NOT underpowered... you simply need to learn how to work with the pedals.

I concur with Sharkster.
When I test drove it, I hammered it down like I was in my previous car (that's what made it go!). I quickly learned that it likes to be loved. Slow and easy.

I had the same problem too. It is coming from the right side of the hood (When you're sitting in the car). I figured it out as coming from the Air Intake Filter compartment. the latches are probably not tightened up so it rattles the compartment. I used bent the clips myself to tighten it up. There is now just a slight noise when you accelerate. I also noticed the car was sluggish initially when this latches were lose. But now the H3 picks up pretty well. I don't know what the Air Intake does, but making sure the compartment is tight makes a big difference.

it so hard for me to hear anything other then MY MONSOON, But these H3's are qiucker with slow steady acceration then "JAMING YOUR FOOT IN ITS ASS" Becuase that just makes it screem not jump. Like my Harley it is very fast when trottled correctly and can impress the best of the Jap bikes, but if you twist it all the way first it will screem so loud that you wouldnt be able to focus on its speed > becuase the sound will scare the **** out of ya.

Correction. The rattling noise came back again. I dunno what is. I will bring it to the dealer and have it checked. Hopefully the engine is ok.
