there are too many places you can't get without it. If the cost/benifit ratio is acceptable then go for it. I know I'll never have another vehicle without it.

I don't think you really need the locker unless you are going to be doing some really hard core wheeling, I have owned a dozen or more 4x4 over the last 30 years some with lockers and some without I have done just about every thing you could imagine off road from roll overs to being stuck up to my windows in muck. don't get me wrong there are situations where a locker is the only thing that will get you thru but I have found that about 80% of making it or not is the driver not if you have a locker . Also remember that a locker will not keep you from getting stuck it will only get you stuck worse. I know of an H3 owner that spent a week in Moab and did most of the trails with a guide and spotters they said that during the whole trip they where only instructed to engage the locker a few times ... jmtc

Yea that rear locker would be nice if you are really wheeling hardcore. NA for most H3 owners.

But if you are planning to trade your H3 after only 5 months that will cost you dearly. Your rear locker will end up costing you over $5,000 for the depreciation and transaction costs. Could end up being the most expensive rear locker on this forum! But it's only money.

I personally think the rear locker is over rated. If you are a hard core 4 wheeler yes its a must but if you are a once and awile off roader like myself the base package is more than capable of dealing with most situations.I took my base package to Sunday River last year and had no problems at all keeping up with the other H2 and H3 with rear locker. If you have the chance have your dealer take you threw the training course and you will be suprised.
