Moto tote

Has anyone hooked up the moto tote for sport bikes to the H2? Wondering if the bike would fit with the tire carrier on? Possibly with the spare tire removed? Need some input ? Don't know if I should gamble and get and it don't work.Thanks

i was thinking the same thing...i'm probably gonna just buy it anyway and just romove the spare tire whenever the bike is being towed.

Try it on the front receiver if there is a spare tire on the rear?

Theres a local guy here that has one. He didn't have the spare on the back though.

PIA btw to remove that carrier and to deal with the license plate wires too.

You could get an extension to go in there, but your bike is going to be way out there and will hit if you go into any drives taht have those V curbs.

I use a hitch extension (18" if memory serves) with my moto-tote, but only to carry my dirtbike. I'd be a bit concerned with using an extension to carry a 400-500 sportbike, given the added leverage on the reciever.

I never felt comfortable with the idea of hauling my sportbikes with a moto-tote at all, even without an extension, though I know lots of people have without any problems.

This will be my first post on the forum.
I bought an -03 H2 some month ago and is working on fixing it up the way I want it.
There is a sticker on the hitch specifying a load of about 700 lbs (don't remember the exact figure)
I will build a stand for my MX bike within some weeks using the hitch as the attach point.
My plan is to make a modular stand (one expansion part) so I can add one more bike when so needed.
I "tried" the hitch by inserting a 40" long square iron profile and put my weight on the end end of it.. It felt very, very sturdy compared to just standing on the trailer hook of any compact car.. I weigh about 170.

I guess that two dirtbikes on an H2 is a piece of cake in spite of the leverage, especially if it has the airsuspension(?)

I improved the leverage once on a compact car by having a tube on the bikestand going forward under the car up against the floor. That eliminates the torsional force that wants to twist the hitch.

Will post a pic of my bikestand creation when it is finished if someone is interested.

Thanks guys for the input. I was thinking it might work by just taking off the tire but I noticed that the tire sits on this metals piece that sticks out just as much as the tire.It seems to be cutting it preety close to the bike. I don't know. I really wish it would work. Besides the licence plate wire, is it pretty easy to remove the carrier?

I guess i'll just have to wait and see when I get the moto tote.

I run this one. It was made by ultimatemxhauler.com

He made an extension piece to accomodate the spare tire and drop the carrier down because the H2 hitch is so much taller (especially with my 37s).

We took custom measurements to keep the bike as close to the hitch as possible.

Let me look around for a detailed pic of the extension/drop adapter.

This shows better detail on the extension. My bike weighs about 285lbs with all the stuff on it now. I haven't had any issues with it.
