I am on a "need to have done" basis right now. Some of my little projects are getting put on hold because I need to put my truck back together and I need to replace the tie rods.

Remember a 1 hour project is likely to take a week for me these days.

I was thinking of mounting a camera on the rear tire carrier. If you mount the camera in the center of the rim (depending on what style rims you have) you can modify the cap so that the camera sticks out of it. I would think this would be the best location for visibility. I would run the wires to the camera on the back of the tire carrrier, like the SUT tire carrier runs the lights for the license plate.

Sadly the marker light cam's are not worth a **** especially with an over size tire. With the stock tire on the carrier all you see is the back and top of the tire then out to infinity. It would be worse with a 37inch tire in place. No amount of adjustment of the marker light cam will allow you to see what is below the tire i.e the hitch if you're backing up a trailer or a childs bike parked just behind the tire. It's useless in my opinion.

H2Finally have you considered a hitch cam? It doesn't solve your problem of the hole in your bummper if you remeove the cam that is there unless you leave the cam where it is and simply unhook it or run both video feeds to your display and switch them to whichever view you want to see. I'm not sure how exactly that could be done but I'm certain that it is possible.

H2F, I'll send you my perfect bumper so you won't have to worry about patching the hole. Just send me yours, with the camera and wires still attached. Then you don't need to worry about the new mounting location, either. We'll kill both birds at once.

Fubar, mine was originally installed in the hitch location, but it seemed that I test the departure angle quite a bit. At one offroad event, I dragged the hitch over a (BIG) rock, and the hitch cam mount was destroyed..

Kdio, I'll consider your suggestion!

Upgraded my 35" spare to 37"MT/R (thanks partsguy! ). But now HALF of my backup camera is covered by the tire!! I can't relocate the camera cause it's gonna leave a big hole in my bumper! Worse, if I use the soft tire cover, it covers 3/4 of the camera!!

WHAT TO DO??? </div></BLOCKQUOTE>

You think someone would have thought of this dilemna before you changed everything??!!

You know, some people only have one usable eye and they get along pretty well! Atleast you have a partial camera! We have to get out of the f**kn thing and spot each other!

H2Finally, i don't know what kind of hitch cam did you have but i can take some pics of mine (homemade ) tomorrow. I don't think mine will affect the departure angle and the cap itself was like $10-$15 @ autozone, not including the camera of course.
