Race?
Does anyone know if there is a Cannonball run, Gumball, or Coast to Coast race going on? Tim is driving through Kansas and has a lot of really nice expensive cars flying past him and or pulled over by the state patrol. (Ferrari's, porsche's, 350z's etc)

Re: Race?
I think they're trying to get all the expensive cars out of town before Tim comes in a buys them up.

Re: Race?
It was funny talking to Tim. He kept saying "There's a Porche. Oh, a Ferrari. Hey, there's a couple of Lambo's...."

Re: Race?
I think they are headed to Aspen, not Vail. I guess they try to throw people off or something on their destinations.

Vail = On the way to Aspen....
Oh, and from thier web site...
"Next Stop..? Vail!
Bullrunfest gets underway at the Crossroads, Vail, CO today at 5pm with the arrival of all the cars and the Cuban Brothers play and open air concert - free for the public, come on down!"

Re: Race?
We went on an open house tour near Vail today. (average price at those homes was $8M). I did see a couple of exotic cars but thought nothing of it considering that we were in the Bachelor Gulch area (Beaver Creek) most of the day. Did see a few more fancy cars than usual on the highway though. Rained like a sombeotch later this evening though.......Hope they had under cover parking.

This is a common site on 70 through Kansas because that is where all the nice cars are

well..... if one were to read their forum, dude said to look for them in Aspen, not Vail. And Vail is not on the way to Aspen if you want to avoid 70 out of Denver. When we rode bikes out of Denver we took 285 out and then hit something else to get to Aspen because it's a better drive on bikes.
At the bottom here, dude says Aspen, so was simply pointing it out. 'scuse me. http://bullrun.com/forum/read.php?2,387

You can by pass Vail by going over Independance Pass south of Leadville....Closed in the winter.
Or you can go north on hwy 9 off I-70 then west on Grand County 1 to State Bridge. However it is a gravel road in places. Independance Pass is paved and will cut off aobut an 1.5 hours of travel time. That is where John Denver got many speeding and DUI tix.
Very Scenic compared to I-70
Oh yeah, you can also go from Leadville to Minturn which lands back on I-70 just past Vail.
