you can't get completly off the grid no matter how hard you try.

All you have to do is take it (the on star module) out of the dash and unplug everything. You can then put it back or put something like a DVD player in its place. That's where I had a 7" fold out monitor in my old truck. I never had a problem and no one called me to say it was stolen. Mine was not active at the time. If you have it activated call and have them de-activate it first.

Speaking of OnStar, a buddy who works for the local police dept. said one day they got a call from a woman that her husband's Hummer was missing. OnStar located the vehicle at another address and the police surrounded the home where it was at.

They were surprised when the husband came running out barely dressed to see what was going on.

Turns out he was having an affair and his wife tricked the system to locate him. Not sure what happened to her charges-wise.
