Default Help with NAV install

I have a 05H2 with a 6disc in-dash unit. I bought a Nav unit and installed it.

It was working but didnt sound as good as the 6disc. After i turned off the key it went into "theftlock activated" mode. I went to the dealer and made an appointment to have it unlocked for this Fri. While I was there they looked in my glove box and saw that i had a y91 code. They said that this was the "Lux" setup. After that, they looked at my head unit and said that it was a "non lux" unit (10377287). Will it work and sound as good as before?

Im confused...what should i do??

NOPE, you need to get a Y91 NAV UNIT. Sell this unit and then re-buy the Y91. It is a MUST HAVE with the Y91 option.

The non-lux radio was for a non BOSE amplified system. The sound is 100% different with the proper Y91 option. If you use a non-lux nav unit in a lux equip system (Y91) it is just running off the radio power and not using the amp. therefore sounding like crap! sorry non lux guys.

Now I read somewhere that no 05's came with the "lux" amp only "premium" amps....does anyone know if this is true? If so, then is my non-lux nav good?

gatorsdogg, bottom line is if you want it to sound AS IT should and IF YOU have the Y91 OPTION you MUST GET THE PROPER RADIO. The made them different for a reason. Contact your dealer for specific details.

gatorsdogg, I may stand corrected. read through this article and then go from there. I still suggest you call the dealer but this forum blog is what you are thinking.

Hey, I read that post....now im more confused than before.. They are sayin that ALL 05's came with PREMIUM amps..not "lux" amps...and that you need a "premium" NAV....i've never heard that before....i do have the y91 in my glovebox but after calling Hummer today, they said that is the speaker configuration NOT the amp..they even went on to say that I have no amp...all hummers have amps right?

I feel like just scrapping this unit and going aftermarket at this point...its very frustrating...everyone I talked to today, including Hummer, has different things to say...

Any other help would be GREATLY APPRECIATED...Thanks

I would just buy a Y91 Nav unit out of an 05 or later model. Iam almost 100% sure it will fix your issue.

Get the part number off the amp. Than call GM back to see if they match up. If not, maybe you can get a different amp in there cheaper than you can for another NAV unit.

Hey guys, sorry I'm jumping into this late, this was my Nav. I have an '05 LUX H2, this was taken out of my truck because I wanted bluetooth, a direct AUX connection (non-ipod), XM Traffic/Weather, etc....honestly biggest mistake I could have made because the idiots that installed the new crap made things worse, but afterwards I found out there was no turning back...but that's off-topic....so anyway....

So how can an OEM NAV unit from a LUX '05 H2 (mine) not work in a '05 H2 Lux w/ a 6CD Changer (gators) as a direct swap. This isn't making any sense?

I have the BOSE system (at least every speaker in the rig says it's Bose)...and the VIN and all the documents when I bought it say it was all factory included.

Anyone?

Tully, makes no sense to me. However I thought his radio was a NON Y91 Radio???? Do you have the Y91 option??? You must if it is a Lux? However the 6 disc changer may be the key!!!

Tully, the Radio part number is a NON-LUX head unit without the Y91 code. Are you certain you have the y91 code for the dealer said it was not????

I spoke with Hummer customer service, AC Delco, Delphi, about 6 dealers, and several other places. Most of them dont have a clue (go figure). It amazes me what little knowledge these people have about this kinda stuff. I also poured over many forums and websites.

I spoke to a guy who has a store on ebay called Replacement Radios. He stated that the non-lux radio will not "wake up" the lux amp. Therefore I need a lux radio to match my y91 configuration build code.

This is what most of you are saying on this site as well. So, im going with the majority rule of you guys and getting the lux radio and giving it a shot.

Thanks for all of your time and research guys. I really appreciate it.
