What are you working on?

I wish the rear springs had a full wrap on the second leaf so if teh main one broke the second leaf would still hold up the vehicle.

Well, I got a call from the mechanic who was turning up my T-Bars.

Since I had the new goodies put on, the front end went down to 20 1/4, from 22 1/2. (measuring center hub to fender base).

He turned them 4 times and only got it to go to 22 DS and 21 3/4 PS. When he walked back to look at it, he said the front end was higher than the back.

He said I had a dent (I call it a ding) in my DS Leaf spring about 4" from the hanger. Nothing bad, just had a little rock rash. Can't imagine where I did that

He also said he measured a stock Adventure Pkg., and I was a full 2 inches lower, (less room to stuff those big ass 35's).

The Caveat.....I forgot to ask him if he unloaded my rear cargo area....
I have all my tools (lots), hi-lift, ice chest, suitcase and stuff back there.

We discussed two things....having the current springs re arced (sp?) to take the rear back to stock, or replacing the springs with custom made/arced ones.

I've seen on this forum and others that there are issues with GM springs sagging....so not really sure which direction to go at this time.....

Re-arching with an extra leaf added might be good way to go? Higher and more load capacity would be cool?

It would be nice to get a set of springs that was about an inch higher in the rear.

I wonder if ARB OME will make some springs for H3.

Go with custom made springs. You can build using more thinner leaves - you'd still have the articulation, but not the tanklike ride of an AAL. It will cost you a bit, but might be worth it. You can re-arch the springs but I think they have to heat them (not 100% sure, someone will chime in) - do you really want heated and rebent springs on your fancy new mad max machine? Plus I think they are more prone to tweaking on the trail after re-arching.

That's a lot of extra weight you added to sag the rear that much - have you weighed it yet? I'd love to see if the added stuff + people exceeds the maximum 951lb payload capacity

Total weight added was approx. a net 450lbs.

The Mechanic did suggest adding a leaf as well. All in all a new set, custom, will run $450.

Current set, re-arced, $300.00 ish.

I really do not think it is enought to sag it that much....howevr, like I said, he's measuring with a load of wheeling gear in the back too.

If your spending the money, call Deaver and have them set you up with some. They are bulletproof and reasonable. Even will make to stock specs with an extra leaf. The custom make them too.

I hear ya. I have used them for all my other rigs, and love em. Whenever I have to replace factory springs I throw deavers on there.

So what route are you going? Add-a leaf? New springs? Are your stock springs that worn that a new set would set it right? Just put some hydraulics on ther and make it jump holmes!

MMMMM dunno. I'll see if I can get them replaced by HUMMER first. My truck is not out of warranty, can't hurt to ask. 2 inches is alot of sag.....we'll see how it goes.

2inches? That is a lot. I can stand on my bumper at 215lbs and it doesn't sag the rear 2 inches maybe a half to 1 inch total. Tell that to the stealership. I'll take a pic with my fat ass standing on the bumper holding a tape measure.

Just a thought.. What about a set of coil over shocks..?? I had some on a Silverado I had once.. Me at 250 could jump up and down in the back of the truck and it wouldn't move hardly any...
