Has anyone noticed a humming noise either transmission or differential related when cruising at speeds of 45 or higher. I only hear it when cruising or accelerating, coasting is quiet so it's not tires.
Any input would be appreciated...

Yes, I have the same thing too. I was going to take it in to the dealership and see if they can tell me anything. Mine does it while accelerating up to about 45 mph, and when I am coasting to a stop. I will keep you informed.

Mine makes the same noise. Starts around 45 in 3rd gear, cruising it seems.

I think it's an RPM thing not a speed issue.
Mine vibrates at around 2500 RPM?

I just dropped it off at the dealer to have it looked at. When I get it back I'll fill you in on what they found. But at least I'm not imagining the noise. Thanks for the replies...

The dealer called today and they found the problem in the differential. They are changing out a pinion and all of the bearings. Not a good feeling on a vehicle that is only 3 weeks old and never been off road yet. I hope they fix it good!

WOW! I guess I need to take mine into the shop and have it looked at. What did you tell them when you dropped it off? How loud was yours?

I told them that I was hearing a humming noise that increased in pitch when accelerating. Most noticable starting at 45 mph. I told them it was only when on the gas not coasting and it sounded like it came from the rear of the vehicle. As far as how loud it is, If you listen to the stereo loud you might not hear it is the best way I can describe it. My dealer says this is the first time they had this issue. They may be seeing more...
Good luck!

Mine is currently at the dealer having the entire transfer case replaced because of this.

They ended up taking a rear end from one of the new vehicles on the lot because it was going to take a week or more to get parts. I told them I'm not willing to wait so they took care of mine by canabalizing one of theirs.

Only 1200 miles on my hummer and i'm gonna have to replace the transfer case module according to the dealers. Here's a few symtoms for other to diagnosis their h3 to see if it's the same issue:
1) Humming noise from front left when traveling over 45 mph
2) A couple of service lights were coming on. such as "4wd need service" and "Stabilitrack needs service"
3) Engine seems a lot weaker than normal H3's
Hope that helps...sucks to know that a vehicle so new already needs servicing.
