I'll mug an H3 driver on the street and see if I can find some company for you. http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Ok all you joksters!! Let's get down to business! http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif
Everyone needs to confirm who is camping and who is not. Also, who is coming in Friday night for a hotel stay and who is meeting Saturday morning?
People that would like to caravan also need to get together for meeting spots so those that want to need to state so.
Exactly how many number of each type of vehicle will be attending.?
Who has a winch?
How many tie rods will be available?
Who has a CB?
Last comment! I think the person that stays in the desert the longest should win the top prize!!! I'm showing up on Wednesday! http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Wow, every time I go to this thread its 2 pages longer...
For the record, I will be bringing numerous straps and misc recovery gear, as well as my truck does have a winch and of course a cb.
I will also bring a chainsaw and shovels, and a couple spair tires, as well as a good bit of tools.
Sean, will you guys be bringing any extra gas?
Any idea if I will be the only h1?
A suggestion, make sure everyone who is comming has a CB, if they dont, make them go buy one, even if its just a hand held its still very vital.
CB ch. 17 would be best...

And if I know you, enough EMT equipment for a small regiment. http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

I've been attracted to the desert for longer than I can remember. That's odd given that I grew up in the midwest (not too far from Ree).
While surfing and at long last, I figured out what it was in the early years that made the desert so appealing.
For 10 cents on Thursday and a free ski holiday for two at the Bun Boy Motel, what was the attraction catalyst? Your only clue ...

No shiite, Rodster - we are gonna get along just fine. I grew up in central PA and LOVED the Rat Patrol. Christopher George was the coolest guy ever (remember his series The Immortal"?????) and that show - oh my God that show!!!! It never left me. I ended up moving to CA, buying a Jeep, and running all over the desert with the windshield down and goggles on shooting assault rifles as I went. ROFLMFAO
There is some weird connection I have with the desert. I dunno what it is, but it is strong and emotional and WEIRD! I LOVE the feel of the sun on your arm like your skin is touching hot metal. I love the dryness. The stark barren moonscape. The silence. Maybe it is memories of The Rat Patrol, maybe it is some strange past life, maybe I'm just a freakin nutbar - but when I am out in the desert and well armed, I feel...um... in my element. http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

You know, this might be a good point to get serious for a minute. http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_eek.gif
I know Toots was talking about free-playing in Rasor OHV area, but everyone on this trip should know that RESPECT for this land is of paramount importance. Even if Big Sister Boxer were not involved, and our right to enjoy our land were not at risk, it would still be important. So much of the Road still looks just as it did when the Indians used it as a footpath, when the first wheeled cart was drug across it by the white man in the 1850's, and when Lt. Beale ran a herd of camels on it as an experiment for the US Army!! (Rumor has it there are still camels out there to this day - descendants of the ones the Army set free when their experiment failed miserably.) http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif
It looks this way and is so historically wonderful because those brave souls who venture into it respect it and truly, "tread lightly." Even with 15 or so Hummers crossing next month, we can leave it looking as good, if not better, than it did when we started.
I don't mean to preach or be on a soapbox, and I know all of you guys (and gals) already know this, but I seriously do love this desert and this trail and just thought it wouldn't hurt to type out a reminder - to all of you and to MYSELF! http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

The best shower I ever had in my LIFE was in Las Vegas, BTW! (Howzzat for a bad segway?) I spent a full week camping and wheeling in the desert and rolled up to the Tropicana in my Jeep (this was in the early '80's). I went straight in, stripped off, and stood under the water in that shower for an hour!!! There was sand and dust and grit in every crack and crevice of my tired sunburnt body and that was sheer HEAVEN! Sometimes the only thing better than the desert is finally getting OUT of it!

Sean-
One thing I wanted to point out...obviously part of this run will be at night, and because its all H2's the vast majority dont have secondary batteries, its imperative that before everyone hits the hay that nothing gets left on...
Also, with this many h2's you probably should call parkway and get some tierods in bulk. haha just playing, my truck will probably be the only one that brakes down if any...the curse of the h1's...

Man. Use the advanced find http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif
Anyhow, shoving a little kid's head out the window might work, but I can attest that doesn't work so well with a fully grown drunken adult woman who's determinidly aiming at the center console when you are driving in inclement weather and trying to shove her head out the window with your free hand. At least that incident was in my Xterra and not the H2. I could forgive it in that spartan little rollover-prone SUV, but such a blemish on the H2 might require invocation of the D-word http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif j/k

Good idea. When one of my kids is feeling ill, I always just stick their head out the window and roll the window up onto their little neck so they can't come back inside and ralph on my leather seats. Not too tight of course - wouldn't wanna choke the little darling.

A small trash can has a special spot in the back between the girls. It's kinda funny how routine the airplane/car puking has become ... when daughter #1 starts getting sick daugher #2 says something along the lines of, "Go ahead and puke, you'll feel better."
So she does and she does and we continue down the trail, once again happily talking about the cool sites and smells. http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

And now returning BACK TO TOPIC...............
http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif
Here are a couple of important things to remember when on The Road.
1. Make sure you start out the trail with a penny in your pocket - one for each occupant of your vehicle. This is important. Don't forget.
2. After breaking camp Sunday morning and before heading back out on The Road (or after returning from the horrifying experience of the Bun Boy Motel), be sure you have placed one rock in your rig for each occupant. They can be any size - from a golf ball to a boulder. This is also important.
Dontchya wanna know why?

Nope. From what my buddy tells me it's very simple...a "cake walk" were his exact words. He even said a tie rod fork was unnecessary and that he'd show me "a little trick to replacing them". I plan to do it myself with him instructing me. I'll be ready for it if it happens.
BTW - Rod, did you say you had a air filler unit? Any idea what the PSI output is? If it's within range I'll bring air wrenches to make any repairs even easier. I'll also bring a torque wrench. geeez, I need to make a list. http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif

Here's what the manufacturer says (although they also offer performance specs of typical CFM at 90 p.s.i. for various tools.)
Because of high outlet pressure tool damage is possible and extended tool use is not recommended. Most air tools are not rated to accept 150 p.s.i. DO NOT USE with tools that are NOT rated for a maximum pressure of 150 p.s.i.

A. Black is not a color. It is the absence of color.
B. Black is evil. Pewter is light. Therefore black is for leftists, pewter for right.

One thing I wanted to point out...obviously part of this run will be at night, and because its all H2's the vast majority dont have secondary batteries, its imperative that before everyone hits the hay that nothing gets left on...
