Got a cracked block

the local dealers are looking at $8,000 for the new long block, another $1,000 for fuilds, gaskets and other misc bits, and the rest to fit it??.
Ifigure I can convert half my barn into a workshop, purchase any of the tools that i dont have already. and still save a s#it load of moneyleft over and also gain some valuble lesons!!!(spelling not being one of them)
