Re: Never forget your training!
I fear that I must agree with our young pacifist the shaggster. If he had a gun then there would not have been the three people left alive who peed in their pants and will probably think very hard about pulling that stunt again (hopefully while being pounded behind bars ). Again, in my ideal world, the warriors with the most skills win and no bystanders get shot by strays. There'll be blood and guts and limbs flying around but the good guys go home. Just a dream...

Re: Never forget your training!
BTW, Mr. Norris is one of the most admired person on my list and it has nothing to do with his movie or martial arts careers. The man has heart. With regards to his military career, needless to say, he served. http://www.military.com/Careers/Cont...m&area=Content

Four bad guys with guns vs. One Marine with a pocket knife.
The bad guys were outnumbered.

If that guy was able to mortally injure two of them with a pocket knife without them firing a shot, if he had had a .40 cal, he would have dropped all five of them there with far less risk to himself and surrounding people. There was no guaranty that, when Autry counter-attacked with the foot and knife, the armed criminals weren't going to start shooting randomly endagering people all over the place. With Autry armed with a gun, more criminals would have been more likely to die but no one else would have been. It would have ended quckly and decisively and with less risk to Autry. In the end, he came out on top, but the firearm would have made it more certain.
No big deal about the dead criminals. Death is what you deserve and should expect when you threaten another person's life in your desire to do criminal mischief. Not all life is valuable. The lives of people who enjoy killing and raping are not valuable. The more of them who die the better because that means that less good people with families get killed and raped.

Can't argue with that. Too many people as it is living on Earth. BTW, imagine if the knife-wielding Marine had lived in Massachussetts instead of Georgia? He probably would have been arrested and then sued by the surviving thugs!

Well, don't know about that. I heard that Alexander the Great was ghey but he still was Alexander the Great !
Anyways, we had a teenager who became quadraplegic after an MVA. HE was with us a few weeks and he was devastated. Could not get him to smile. One day, out of the blue, Mr. Chuck Norris and his wife came over from CA to visit him. Apparently it was Mrs. Norris' birthday. They flew to NM to visit with a man dying from cancer and then came to see this boy whom they had heard about through a church group. I did not know that they were coming and walked into that. The boy could not stop smiling. The Norrises visited with the boy and prayed with him for sometimes. No rushed and no staged visit. They visited with us. We talked about Bruce Lee and Taekwondo. A weather system was coming in so the visit ended when we heard that. That's it. No posse. No media cameras. It wasn't even reported in the papers. They went back to CA to their baby twins whom they left for the day. I'm still not a Chuck Norris, the celebrity, fan but now I can say that he is a true warrior in the martial way. I believe that he and Rickson Gracie are from the same mold. I can't explain it to you who do not subscribe to that way.

Thanks ETD. I know a guy who worked with Chuck on a film. He told me that Norris showed up every day on time, ready to work, and showed respect to everyone on the set. My friend, who is a real cynic, had to admit that Norris is a #1 class act, "the genuine article" he called him.
