Re: I'm ready to go back to Katemcy
Ya know I bet those are the tamed hand feed stud bucks they have in a pin on a "managed" ranch and they just drugged them all and lined them up to take a photo.
I dont see any blood anywhere... looks too clean to me...

Re: I'm ready to go back to Katemcy
I was just by there yesterday on my way back from Brownwood. We gave up counting H2s and starting counting dead deer on the side of the road. Saw 8 in a 40 mile stretch.

ummm..... I guess you don't hunt much
While those are likely deer from a high-fenced ranch south of Dallas, most of the time when one poses with one's trophy deer, you remove any blood from the mouth that might show up and tuck the tongue back inside for the picture. It makes for a better photo.

Re: I'm ready to go back to Katemcy
Lol, ya I have shot more than I can count. I have never seen anyone take the time to wipe a dead deers mouth for a photo opportunity.. hahaha That there is funny...
Maybe I am just jealous, as I have never shot one beyond a 22 inch inner spread.
Let me just go on to say that those are far beyond nice.. I also suspect that the people that shot them didnt gut them either.. I bet they had a ranch hand mexi to do that for them... =)

Re: I'm ready to go back to Katemcy
Yep, as suspected these are pets.. but OMFG they are huge!!!
Just curios, what do they charge to shoot one of those caged bucks? I would like to give my father a hunt as he never had a trophy whitetail. hes had a few B&C Bull Elks though and one B&C Muley. But never a white tail.
Did you see the pics of the "Highlander" omfg... that would give you buck fever like a mofo...

Re: I'm ready to go back to Katemcy
It's a breeding farm, so to for that hunt, I'm guessing I could buy an H2 and H3 for what that cost.
not my kind of hunting.
If just anyone with enough $$$ can go fire off a round and take a B&C class deer, what's the point. I like to grow my own, naturally, w/o fences, gene manipulation, etc.
Instead of a deer, pay to have your dad go take a rhino or a giraffe or something.... you can pay to take those in Texas on some of those ranches also.

Re: I'm ready to go back to Katemcy
Well thats exaclty how I feel as well hence you can see me poking at it a little. We have never ever gone on a "pay per buck" kinda hunt and only taken leases ourselves for several years to develop them into something. But in most cases we only find out that the land owner and his sons and friends of his sons are out there spot lighting at night on the feeders and winter grass fields shooting the biggest bucks.
It has been that way sine i was a child hence we quit huntng white tail about 10 yrs ago and only went to Colorado or NM for Elk and Muleys.
It just seems that unless you own the property and live on it or have someone live on it - when you get some good stock someone will come cherry pick it for you without your knowlege until you catch them red handed.. I wish I could tell you here on the internet what happens to them when we catch them...
But in any case, my dad is getting old now and isnt wanting to spend the time into a new lease and it would be nice to just "pay to shot a pet" trophy so he could have "a huge one" in his life.. but honestly I dont think he would even do it - I would have to ask him first.
As much as I would like to shoot one like those, I would have to completly lie my as s off to people when they asked me where I shot it. I would be so ashamed to say it was on a ranch like that. Maybe if I took it with my bow it would feel better but still.. I think you understand what I mean.
