I agree, I've used chain all my life-shxt they didn't have fancy tow straps until about 20 years ago. When chain breaks it goes dead-looses all inertia-whereas cable and nylon straps have the rebound effect . anyway I'm big believer in "Git R Done".

I usally use chains. I had a strap break once and it came back and cut the grill , radiator and fan belts in half. I'm glad no one was standing there or they would have been cut in half. I use chains now most of the time.
SOmetimes you need chain , like in this pic.

I love the brush guard myself. It works as hood handles too.
Since the elcova guys don't sell it, I don't think they will mind me telling you where I got it. It's a Ram brush guard, and I got it from bumpernut.com. The guy who runs the company is VERY good to work with. I also got it for a excellent price.
